Single Bottle Rocket
A single 2-litre plastic bottle forms the simplest rocket type. It’s reliable, safe and easy to rebuild after tests.
Materials
- 1 × 2-litre plastic bottle (carbonated drinks type)
- Cork or rubber stopper with a hole for a bike valve or garden nozzle
- Fin card or stiff plastic for stability
- Launch pad and pump
Assembly
- Glue or tape three or four fins equally spaced near the open end (which becomes the base).
- Optionally add a nose cone made from another bottle top.
- Fill ¼ with water, insert stopper and lock onto the launcher.
- Pump to 40–50 psi, then release!
Mission Ideas
- Measure height using a clinometer or video analysis.
- Compare pressure vs altitude in multiple launches.
